Boudh: In a heinous act a man was hacked to death by his elder brother and two nephews at Jiral village near Purunakatak in this district Saturday night.
A long-running land dispute was believed to be the reason behind Bibhishan Swain’s murder.
According to reports, Bibhishan’s sister’s son Praphulla, brother’s son Babula and elder brother Anand ganged up and launched a lethal attack on Bibhishan Saturday evening. They attacked him with sharp weapons, including axe.
Relatives and local people rescued Bibhishan and rushed him to Boudh district headquarters hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased’s daughter Laxmi also sustained injuries when she tried to rescue her father. She has been undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
