Gaisillet: A man axed his wife to death on charge of infidelity at Sandibahal village under this block in Bargarh district Sunday. The deceased was identified as Kiya (68), wife of the accused Subash Sahu (72).
Sources said the elderly couple had two daughters and a son. The daughters were married while their son had passed away a few days back. The duo stayed alone in a thatched house in the village. However, a rift continued between Kiya and Subash as the latter suspected her of having an illicit relationship. Locals often pacified the elderly couple after a tiff broke out between the couple.
On the fateful day, Subash, in a fit of rage, attacked Kiya with an axe. Kiya died on the spot. On being alerted by locals, police seized the axe used in the crime. Police registered a case of murder and sent the body for post-mortem. Subash was arrested and later produced in court. PNN
