Man bludgeoned to death by wife, son

Nabrangpur: In a shocking incident, a man was bludgeoned to death by his wife and son at Deulapara village under Raigarh block in this district Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Baldev Ganda (50). The accused were identified as Baldev’s wife Ramdei Ganda and his son Biswanath Ganda.

Police registered a case of murder and arrested the mother-son duo on a tiff-off by fellow villagers. A further probe into the incident is on, police said.

According to sources, Baldev was a drunkard and often created nuisance at house. He reportedly suspected the mother and son of having an illicit relationship and fought with them.

As usual, he reached home in an inebriated state and created a ruckus Friday night. He got into a fight with his wife Ramdei accusing her of having an illicit relationship with their son Biswanath.

Furious, Ramdei took a wooden plank and hit Baldev before informing Biswanath who was sleeping in a neighbour’s house. Soon, Biswanath stormed into the house with a lathi and bludgeoned his father on his head leading to his death on the spot due to excess blood loss.

Fearing arrest, the mother and the son hid the body inside their house and locked it before trying to flee the village. However, some neighbours reached there and alerted the police.

On learning the incident, Raighar SI Shankar Prasad Majhi, SI Nilima Panigrahy, ASI Bulu Patnaik and Susant Panda reached the village and made the arrest. They were produced in court and later remanded in judicial custody after the court rejected their bail pleas Saturday.   PNN
