Bolangir: A man was detained by police for allegedly strangling his wife to death with her saree at Jamapada village under Sindhekela police limits in Bolangir district Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Pushpanjali Rana.
Police said the accused, Krupa Rana, allegedly used the saree she was wearing to strangulate her at their Jamapada-Khuntiapada residence.
According to police, the accused attempted to flee the scene after committing the crime.
However, he was caught by a team of Sindhekela police.
He has been brought to the police station and detained for questioning.
Police recovered the body and began an investigation.
A scientific team also visited the scene to collect evidence.
