Bhubaneswar: A man, who was working as a cook on the Reserve Police campus near Jaydev Vihar, was found dead Sunday morning.
The police identified the deceased as Binod Senapati of Bhadrak.
Sahid Nagar police station inspector-in-charge Deepak Kumar Mishra said they are investigating the case and have sent Senapati’s body to Capital Hospital for post mortem.
Senapati had gone to sleep at night but was found lying under a tree in the wee hours of Sunday, according to sources at the Reserve Police Lines.
“Senapati, who had undergone heart surgery a few days ago, was plagued by family problems and was upset because of this,” sources said.
“Senapati might have fallen down from the tree after hanging himself or might have died of a heart attack while attempting suicide. However, the exact cause of his death will be known once the post-mortem report is received,” twin city police commissioner Rajendra Prasad Sharma said.
Senapati’s family members have arrived in the city on hearing the news of his death.
Sahid Nagar police have registered a case of unnatural death.
