Nabarangpur: A local court of Nabarangpur district sentenced a man 10-years jail term in connection with the rape of a mentally-challenged girl last year.
One Sakilram Gond was found guilty for raping the victim, a native of Kosagumuda police limits. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 5, 000 on the convict.
According to sources, Gond had raped the mentally unstable girl March 20, 2017 when two neighbours spotted him. The neighbours had informed the girl’s brother who later lodged a complaint with Kosagumuda police.
The court pronounced the verdict on the basis of statements of 13 witnesses.
