Chhendipada: An elderly man was hacked to death by his son over a fight at Kukurpeta village under Chhendipada police limits in Angul district Monday.
The deceased was identified as Kailash Naik (55), a resident of the Dalit hamlet in the village. The accused Jeetndra Naik (27) was arrested.
Profusely bleeding, Kailash was rushed to the Chhendipada community health centre where he succumbed to his injuries. Police sent the body for post-mortem and seized an axe used in the killing. A case was registered in this connection and further investigations were on.
Preliminary inquiries suggested the incident occurred after Jeetendra asked his father to get him married soon and demanded money from him to meet the expenses. Kailash expressed his inability and asked his son to make arrangements for marriage at his own expenses. This led to an altercation between the two which turned violent when Jeentendra picked up an axe and attacked his father.
