Phiringia (Kandhamal): Acting on a tip-off, Phiringia police Tuesday arrested a man on charges of possessing a gun illegally at Karandabali village under Kelapada panchayat here late Monday night.
The arrested person has been identified as Ghanshyam Kanhar.
According to reports, the cops were on routine patrolling Monday night when they received a tip-off. Acting on it, they raided Ghanshyam’s house and found a gun in his illegal possession. However, Ghanshyam failed to produce any legal documents regarding the weapon.
The weapon was seized and he was arrested immediately. The exact reason as to why he had the weapon will be ascertained after interrogation, informed police sources.
