Kantabanji: A middle-aged man was arrested for sexually exploiting a Dalit girl here in Bolangir district.
The accused, identified as Pitabas Rout of Sargul village near Kantabanji, has been booked under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.
Prafulla Mishra, SDPO of Kantabanji Police Station, said, “The accused developed a relation with the girl, a resident of Bahabal village near Turekela, last year during her stay at a brick kiln in Bengaluru in Karnataka. Pitabas worked in the same brick kiln where the girl’s family also worked.
“As per the complaint, the accused who is the father of four children, kept his marital status secret from the girl and took her to Punjipathra village in Chhattisgarh April 10 this year on the pretext of marriage. The accused forcibly established a sexual relationship with the girl at a rented house there and later dumped her,” he added.
Police have conducted medical examination of both the girl and the accused.
The accused would be forwarded to court Wednesday.
