Patrapur: Police Tuesday fished out the body of a girl from a well at Kespur near Jarada in Ganjam district. The deceased was identified as Bhabani Behera, daughter of Sudam Behera of Puri, said the police.
Although the incident occurred Saturday, it came to light Monday after the accused surrendered to police at Jarada.
The relatives lodged a complaint with the police after the girl went missing since October 20.
According to police, Bhabani Behera was studying at Khariaguda College while residing at her grandfather’s house in S Nuagaon.
She is believed to have fallen in love with Gautam, a married man of Kespur. She had gone to Kespur Saturday and met Gautam. She allegedly insisted that Gautam marry her after which Gautam lost his cool and strangulated her to death. Later, he stuffed the body in a polythene bag and dumped it in a well near Kespur.
