Chhendipada: After the Kandhamal residential school shocker, another shameful incident has come to the fore with reports of rape attempt on a seven-year-old girl by her own uncle in this locality in Angul district. The matter came to light after the girl’s kin lodged a written complaint with the police, Thursday.
According to the complainant, the accused lured the girl with a chocolate while she was playing. Then he took her to an isolated place and tried to outrage her modesty. However, the girl managed to escape and ran home and narrated her ordeal to her mother. Police have registered a case and are conducting a probe. “We have recorded the statement of the victim and will arrest the accused soon,” the investigating officer said.
In another incident which also took place Thursday a four-year-old girl was raped in Sundargarh district. She is now battling for life at Rourkela Ispat General Hospital (IGH).
According to police, the man identified as Sanjay Dung Dung (30) of Goppur village under Raiboga police limits in Sundargarh district, offered the minor girl chocolates. He then took her to a nearby school playground and raped her. When the four-year-old kid lost consciousness, he fled.
Later, locals rescued the girl and admitted her to a nearby hospital, from where she was shifted to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) as her condition deteriorated. Her condition is still critical, hospital sources said Friday.
