Phulnakhara: A man and his nephew were found dead under mysterious circumstances at an LPG godown at Nagabali under Sadar police limits Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Jitendra Mahapatra (40) of Shisho village under Harianta panchayat and his nephew Shubhrajit Mahapatra (23) of Nagari Banaharada.
Sources said Jitendra was working at the LPG godown. He and Shubhrajit stayed at the godown as the security guard was absent Saturday night.
However, the duo did not wake up Sunday morning. Suspecting something unusual, a few locals informed the incident to police.
Police later recovered the bodies of Jitendra and Shubhrajit by breaking open the godown shutter. An unnatural death case has been registered in this connection and the bodies have been sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
Sources said the duo died due to asphyxiation caused by fumes from an electric generator in the godown. “We can ascertain the cause of the duo’s death only after going through the postmortem reports,” said Sadar police in-charge Devdutta Kar.
