Cuttack: A 24-year-old man was arrested on charges of outraging the modesty of his five-year-old cousin in Tarala area under Jagatpur police limits here Wednesday, a police official said.
The girl’s family lodged a complaint with Jagatpur police who registered a case (4/19) under Sections 376AB of the IPC and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused has been taken into custody.
The incident took place in the afternoon when the victim along with her mother, a resident in Chauliaganj area here, had been to the place of the accused at Tarala. “The accused found the victim playing alone in a room before forcing himself on her,” a police official said, adding that he later dropped the victim at her place in Chauliaganj area.
The incident came to the fore after the girl’s parents found her profusely bleeding. “The victim narrated the horrific episode following which her parents rushed her to a private healthcare facility before approaching the police,” the official pointed out.
