Baripada/Rairangpur: A 30-year-old man was allegedly stoned to death by a group of youths following a mobile phone snatching incident at Chaunradh Chhak under Badampahar police station limits in Mayurbhanj district.
Police have detained four suspects in connection with the incident. The deceased, identified as Baraju Dehuri of Kantasala village, had allegedly snatched a mobile phone from a woman at Kudulisahi settlement of Dudhijharan village around 6:30 pm November 1.
Later, around 10 pm, some local youths reportedly called him to Chaunradh Chhak and attacked him with stones, leaving him critically injured. He was found unconscious and rescued by family members the following morning. He was taken to Badampahar health centre and later shifted to Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Hospital, where he died around 4pm November 2. Following a complaint lodged by his relative, Madhu Dehuri, November 3, police registered a case (151/26), detained four suspects and began questioning them.
