Bhubaneswar: A person ran into trouble for inflicting torture on his wife and threatening to kill his in-laws. The person was arrested Thursday by Balianta police who also seized the pistol used by the accused to threaten his in-laws.
According to sources, the accused person Prasenjit Pradhan alias Jeet of Bagalpur village under Sadar police station in Cuttack eloped with the daughter of one Kanhu Charan Das of Jayar Sasan in Balianta area here and subsequently married her around six months ago.
However, of late Jeet has been beating his wife regularly after drinking alcohol. The victim went back to her father’s house secretly. Later, Jeet went to his in-laws’ place in an inebriated state and threatened to kill them with the gun, September 9.
Das lodged a complaint against Jeet with the Balianta police. Jeet was, Thursday, arrested and cops seized one pistol along with live ammunition from the possession of the accused. He was later produced in court that sent him to prison by rejecting his bail plea.
