Rourkela: District police along with CRPF jawans Thursday night busted a Maoist camp at a forest near Ramjodi area of Patabeda village under Lathikata police limits in Sundargarh district during a combing operation. Two guns, 11 live bullets, swords and other sharp-edged weapons were seized from the camp while the ultras managed to flee,
Rourkela superintendent of police Anirudhh Kumar Singh told the media during a press meet Friday. There were nearly twenty rebels in the camp in civil clothes. They were close aides of notorious Maoist leader Sandip of Saranda on Orissa-Jharkhand border, the police said. They might have put up the camp to induct some locals to strengthen their organisation, they added.
Combing operation has been intensified following the raids. CRPF, DVF and SOG jawans have been deployed in K Balang, Koida, Hatibari and Nuagaon areas under Bisra police limits to curb Maoists activities. As the organisation is getting weaker by the day, on the direction of the area commander, the ultras are making a last ditch effort for a revival, the police said. PNN
