Maoist posters trigger panic in Kandhamal

Baliguda: Panic gripped residents after Maoist posters surfaced threatening informers with dire consequences in Sudra area under Baliguda police limits in Kandhamal district, on the wee hours of Saturday.

Locals spotted the posters put up on a roadside tree and alerted the cops. Released by the KKBN (Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh) division Maoists, the posters issued a warning for the locals acting as police informers. The posters also mentioned the names of the suspected informers.

The rebel outfit, through the posters, also took the responsibility of killing a watchman, identified as Rabindra Mallick, in Patiamba village under Sadar police limits in Phulbani suspecting him to be a police informer. They also claimed to have torched five vehicles including three tractors and two JCBs opposing against the road construction work in the area.

It may be noted here that the police have arrested seven militia members for killing Mallick and torching the vehicles three days back.
