Bhubaneswar, Sept 24: As many as 65 platoons of police forces and 150 officers will be deployed in Cuttack for the India-South Africa T-20 cricket match to be held at Barabati Stadium on October 5.
In Bhubaneswar, where the players will be staying at Mayfair hotel, 25 platoons and 100 officers of police force will be deployed. As many as 150 CCTV cameras have already been installed in and around the stadium in Cuttack to keep a watch on possible anti-social activities during the match. The cameras, installed at the gates and the ticket counters, will be monitored by Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora.
Police Commissioner RP Sharma told a press conference Thursday that Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) will also deploy 500 private security guards in and around the stadium to assist police. The Anti-terrorist Squad and Special Operation Group (SoG) will also be deployed in the twin cities, he added.
In a first, OCA has numbered the seats in the stadium, and the audience, entering through its 18 gates, will have to sit in the seats allotted to them. It is the first time Barabati Stadium will be hosting an international T20 match. The stadium has earlier hosted Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 matches.
A security review meeting was attended by Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora , Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrat Bhoi and OCA secretary Asirbad Behera.
