Baripada: A major portion of funds provided to Mayurbhanj district under Indira Awas Yojana and Integrated Watershed Development Project (IWDP) in the 2015-16 fiscal and till June of 2016-17 fiscal has remained unutilised. This emerged during a District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting held at Murgabadi here Wednesday.
The meeting headed by Rajya Sabha MP Sarojini Hembram reviewed implementation and fund utilisation of MGNREGS, IAY, Integrated Watershed Development Project, PMGSY, rural drinking water supply and National Rural Health Mission for 2015-16 and 2016-17 fiscals.
It was learnt that the district has received `76.40 crore under IAY till June 2016-17 under IAY, but only `26.32 crore has been utilised so far. A total of 15,217 houses have been built.
In case of IWDP, the district was provided `2.99 crore till June 2016-17, but only 19 project have been executed with utilization of `91.69 lakh.
Significantly, the district has set a target of making 4,658 SHGs self-sufficient under the Orissa Livelihood Mission in the current year.
The review meeting revealed that the district received `153.15 crore under MGNREGS in 2015-16 till June 2016. Of it, `148.99 crore has been utilised for 39,647 projects.
The executive engineer of rural development division has been asked to speed up construction of 66 rural roads under PMGSY.
Besides, the district was provided `919.76 lakh under National Rural Livelihood Mission and Orissa Livelihood Mission till date while `917.61 lakh has been spent so far.
Under Swacch Bharat Yojna, the district received `2.52 crore while `2.02 crore has been spent.
The district has utilised `2.85 crore under mining mission.
In the district, 11, 6,493 people have been enrolled as beneficiaries of old age pension, national family welfare pension and pension for disabled persons. PNN
