Nabarangpur: Yet another act of making intimate moments viral on social media allegedly claimed the life of a minor girl at Mundiguda village of Jharigaon block in Nabarangpur Wednesday morning.
The minor girl committed suicide after a video of intimate moments featuring her and a youth went viral. The deceased girl’s father lodged a complaint with Jharigaon police in this regard. Police seized the body and sent for post mortem and launched a probe.
Police SDPO Hemant Kumar Padhi, SI Subash Behera along with a police team reached the village and launched the probe. Meanwhile, police detained three youths and took them for interrogation while the main accused, identified as Jagannath Gouda was on the run.
Sources said Jagannath of the same village was in a relationship with the victim. He lured her to physical intimacy and recorded the act in his mobile phone. Later, he shared the videos with his friends that soon became viral on social media. The video clip was seen circulating in social media and became full public, bringing much shame to the family members.
Since then the girl was depressed and under extreme stress. On the pretext of collecting firewood she took her younger sister along and went to a forest. Later, she sent away her sister but stayed back alone.
Family members grew apprehensive after she did not return home till evening. They searched for her and later found her hanging from a tree in a nearby forest. The family belonged to an extreme poverty background and even failed to perform the last rites of the body. They demanded immediate arrest of the main accused and necessary compensation for the family.
6-yr-old girl raped
Bangiriposi: An elderly person was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl at Shagunashola under this block in Mayurbhanj district. Police produced the accused Sunaram Singh (60) in court. According to reports, Sunaram lured the six-year-old girl on the promise of giving her biscuits Tuesday evening. He bought her a pack of biscuit and carried the girl on his bi-cycle to the bank of Budhabalanga where he committed the crime. On the other hand, her family members searched for her and came to know that the girl was raped and caught the accused. Later, Sunaram was handed over to the police. Following a complaint, Bangiripsi IIC Minati Biswal started an investigation and detained the accused.
