Kendrapara: In a tragic incident, a 5-year-old girl reportedly drowned in a pond at Praharajpur village under Rajkanika block in Kendrapara district Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Saraswati Pradhan, daughter of Praharajpur resident Kartik Pradhan.
As per reports, Manjulata Pradhan, mother of the deceased minor, had gone to cast her vote Saturday leaving the girl alone at home. On her return, she could not find Saraswati in the house. After a long frantic search, she found Saraswati floating in the pond.
Villagers rescued the minor girl and rushed her to Rajanagar Community Health Centre (CHC) where doctors pronounced her ‘brought dead’.
A pall of gloom descended on the village after the incident.
