Keonjhar: A minor girl suffered serious injuries and the house in which she was staying was damaged due to an elephant attack in the wee hours of Monday. The elephant which has unleashed a reign of terror in Kuntapada village under Telkoi Range in Keonjhar district has been giving sleepless nights to the villagers.
Sources said, that the elephant which has separated from its herd has turned rogue. It attacked the house of Arun Mukhi, a resident of the village. Due to the attack, the wall of the house collapsed on the five sleeping members. Luckily they managed to evade the wrath of the pachyderm.
Family members took the minor to the district headquarters hospital where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Following the attack the locals contacted forest department officials and requested them to chase the elephant away from the village. They also alleged that proper steps were not being taken to prevent man-animal conflict.
