Patamundai: A youth allegedly raped a minor girl from Kendrapara after taking her to New Delhi on the pretext of marriage. The matter came to the fore when a complaint was lodged with Patamundai police station Wednesday.
The accused Babu Rout is a relative of the victim hailing from Haranbabi in Chandannagar Panchayat. Rout lured the girl when she visited her relative’s house in Reso village. Rout took her to New Delhi for 10 days from May 18. However, the duo did not return from the capital even after 10 days. Later, the girl returned to her relative’s house June 3 and informed her parents about the incident. The relatives later lodged a complaint at the police station.
Police have detained Krupasindhu Barik, an uncle of the accused, and launched a search to nab the accused.
