Daringbadi: In a tragic incident, a five-year-old minor boy drowned while washing his muddy feet in a ditch at Kakamaha village under Siangbali panchayat of Daringbadi block in Kandhamal district Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Badal – the only son of Rasant Pradhan of the same village.
According to locals, Badal had gone to the farmlands along with his parents. He went to the nearby ditch to wash his muddy feet a while later. Somehow, the child lost his balance and accidentally slipped into the deep water and drowned subsequently.
When the boy did not return, his parents searched for him and found his body floating in the water. Rasant recovered the body from the water.
Though they immediately rushed the boy to Daringbadi primary healthcare center, the doctor there declared him dead on arrival. Dissatisfied parents lodged a complaint with the cops in this context.
On being informed, tehsildar Nitish Tripathy sent local revenue inspector and supervisor to the spot for further inquiry.
