Dhenkanal/Cuttack, Feb 12: An unwed minor mother of Baunsapala panchayat under Kamakhyanagar block here was re-shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further treatment after she showed no signs of improvement Thursday. The girl dropped out while being shifted to Cuttack and went back home Wednesday as she had no money for medical expenses and no one to
attend to her, sources said.
She was brought back again after reports surfaced and was readmitted to the DHH Wednesday night. Doctors at the hospital monitored her health condition all through the night and found her blood pressure continuously fluctuating. Later, Thursday morning in a meeting chaired by the chief district medical officer Dr Sangram Kishore Dash district and health officials decided to shift the girl to Cuttack with her blood pressure deteriorating. An official of the district
child protection unit also accompanied the girl. “Her treatment will be free of cost,” Dash said.
Our correspondent adds from Cuttack: The girl is battling for life after being admitted to the obstetrics and gynecology department of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Doctors at the hospital administered her two units of blood plasma in the evening and said that she has requirement of blood of A+ group.
Sources said the 13-year-old girl was undergoing treatment in the DHH after delivering a baby girl February 4
after a local youth forced her into a
relationship.
The baby died two days after its birth, but the girl developed serious complications and had to be admitted to Kamakhyanagar sub-divisional hospital for treatment and was later shifted to the district headquarters hospital February 9.
There, she failed to recover
following which doctors advised that she be shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. She dropped out on the way and reached home while being shifted to Cuttack.
