Malkangiri: In a tragic incident, two minor sisters aged about six and three years met a watery grave in a small puddle while playing at Mukanpalli village of Pushuguda panchayat under Kalimela block and Motu police limits in Malkangiri district Sunday afternoon.

According to police sources, the minor sister duo were playing near the puddle, while their mother was harvesting paddy crops. When the mother could not spot her daughters few minutes later, she screamed for help. Some villagers who were working nearby immediately came to the rescue of the minor sisters, but in vain.
The bodies were found in the puddle and recovered by locals. The sisters were rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared them ‘brought dead’. Motu police have registered a case of unnatural death in this connection and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
A detailed investigation is underway, the police sources said.
