Khallikote: Some miscreants allegedly thrashed a youth and cut off his tongue at Nirmalajhar Chhak near Khallikote in Ganjam district Sunday night over past enmity.
The victim has been identified as Ganesh Behera alias Mitu (40).
According to reports, the miscreants attacked Ganesh when he was returning home after completing some work in Khallikote.
Locals who spotted Ganesh being severely injured and oozing out blood from mouth admitted him to Khallikote community health centre.
He was later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur when his condition deteriorated.
A complaint has been lodged at Khallikote police station. However, police are yet to nab the accused who have been absconding.
