Kendrapara: Jambu Marine Police in this district Wednesday, detained a young man for his involvement in assaulting and outraging the modesty two sisters. He has been identified as Raju Samant from Uttarbarakolikhola village. He along with his other associates molested the two sisters after forcibly taking them to a jungle, said a source.
The incident took place at Batighar Lunch ghat when the two sisters were going to distribute invitation cards with one of their relatives in a motorbike, May 13.
According to Kendrapara SDPO, Rajib Lochan Panda, the six men forcibly took one of the sisters to a nearby jungle and disrobed her. When the victim screamed for help her brother-in-law and elder sister came to rescue the victim. The accused , overpowered the two. They snatched a gold chain and mobile phone from the man and forcibly undressed the elder sister too. The accused also threatened to kill all the three and said that the nude photos of the two girls will go viral if any complaint is lodged. Local villagers came to the rescue of the two sisters but the by then the accused men managed to flee the spot.
Acting on the FIR, Jamboo Marine Police registered a case and detained one of the accused Raju Samant.
Meanwhile, a manhunt is on to nab the other five accused involved in the crime.
