Cuttack: It was a day of mixed fortunes for Falcon Fighters and Barabati Stars as they won one match and lost the other on the second day of the Orissa Premier Badminton League here, Saturday. The Fighters won against ABC Warriors 3-2 before going down to Kalinga Strikers 2-3. Barabati Stars on the other hand scripted a 3-2 victory over LBN Lions while they lost 2-3 to Puri Smash Kings.

Sangeeta Khedia and Kajal Jena from Orissa have been selected in the 18-member East Zone team who will play in the U-19 Women’s Inter-Zonal tournament, a BCCI statement said, Saturday. U-23 team announced
Orissa Cricket Association (OCA), announced Saturday a 15-member U-23 squad for the upcoming zonal ODIs to be played at Ranchi, January 23-29. Subhranshu Senapati will be leading the side. Orissa women’s basketball team registered a fighting 50-44 victory against Jharkhand in the 68th National Basketball Championships at Chennai, Friday. Lipramayee (23 points) scored for Orissa while Usha (15 points) starred for Jharkhand.
Binit-Amrit triumphs
Binit Ranjan Das and Amrit Mitra emerged champions of the Barabati Doubles Carrom Championships after they beat the duo of Sisir Lenka and Banamali Behera in the final in Cuttack, Friday. Manoj Mukhi and Sagar Choudhury finished third defeating Debashis and Piyush in the third-fourth play-off match.
