New Delhi: The Ministry of Environment and Forests has now been asked to speed up delayed projects on the Chandikhole-Duburi-Talcher highway.
This was among the 12 projects discussed Tuesday at the 6th meeting of Group of Infrastructure held here under the chairmanship of Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari Tuesday. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, MoS Telecom Manoj Sinha, Science and Technology Minister Harshvardhan and MoS Energy RK Singh also participated in the event.
The gathering was told that 12 highway projects in the country are awaiting environment clearance including the Chandikhole-Talcher NH in Orissa. The MoEF has been requested to speed up the same. They said the proposals are still pending with respective states.
A high-powered committee headed by the Telecom Secretary consisting of Secretary RTH, Power, Petroleum, Member (Engg ) Railways has been set up to look into the modalities for sharing infrastructure for utilities like water pipes, telecom cables etc.
It was also decided that these ministries would enter into a MoU that they would not charge each other for setting up projects as the payment is govt to govt.
About clearance/approval for RoBs it was stated that the progress was satisfactory. It was also decided to set specific timelines for approvals.
