Bhubaneswar: The JFMC court of Jharsuguda Wednesday allowed narco analysis and polygraph tests on dismissed ASI Gopal Das accused of killing Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das.
The ASI who was in charge of traffic duty during the visit of the Health Minister to Gandhi Chhak in Brajrajnagar January 29 last, shot at the minister at a close range from his service revolver leading to his death at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar during treatment on the same day.
The accused, sources said, agreed to go for both narco and polygraph test by the Crime Branch of Odisha police which has taken over the investigation.
The JMFC court Wednesday also allowed the Crime Branch to take Gopal Das on remand for five more days for further interrogation in the case.
This was the third remand the Crime branch had sought from the court. Earlier, the Crime Branch had taken four days remand twice, first soon after the arrest of Gopal Das and second time February 4 last which ended Wednesday.
Meanwhile, retired Orissa High Court Judge J P Das who has been supervising the crime branch enquiry, on Wednesday visited the crime spot and held discussion with the crime branch officials investigating the case.
Odisha DGP Sunil Bansal also visited the crime spot and discussed with the crime branch team the progress of the ongoing investigation.
Justice J P Das who held a discussion with the ADG Crime branch said he is waiting for the psycho-analysis report of accused Gopal Das. He, however, refused to comment on anything stating that he was only supervising the crime branch investigation.
The Opposition Congress and the BJP are critical of the ongoing crime branch investigation stating that this is nothing but an eye wash to suppress the truth.
While the BJP has been demanding a CBI probe into the murder of the Health Minister, the Congress has demanded SIT probe and the resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
