Bhubaneswar, Jan 8: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) should give the go ahead to the `Rs 1,337 crore rural infrastructure project in Orissa to meet critical gaps in the development of rural infrastructure and projects, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.
Patnaik made this proposal to Nabard chairman Dr Harsh Kumar Bhanwala during his visit to the Secretariat for discussions with the Chief Minister about several Nabard projects and programmes.
The `Rs 1,337 crore rural infrastructure project includes bridge projects of `Rs 500 crore, road projects of `Rs 200 crores road, borewell projects of Rs`200 crore and other small, medium and major irrigation projects, sources said.
The Chief Minister also urged the Nabard chairman to give consent for implementing a `Rs 752 crore drinking water project at Nuapada that is aimed at filtering fluoride from water, sources revealed.
Patnaik also asked Bhanwala to clear all pending proposals meant for enhancing road connectivity in rural areas of the state.
The Nabard chief has assured the Chief Minister that concrete measures would be taken for clearance and approval of these proposals in the interest of the state.
Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati, as well as the development commissioner, finance secretary and agriculture secretary were among those present during the discussion along with other
officials.
