Cuttack: To celebrate the 79th Independence Day, a vibrant walkathon was held at Baliyatra Ground, organised by NCC Group Headquarters, Cuttack, in collaboration with Odisha Juba Prasiskshan Trust (OJPT).
The event was flagged off by OJPT chairman Surendra Kumar Swain, with hundreds of NCC cadets, youth volunteers, and Cuttack citizens participating.
The walkathon promoted unity, discipline, national pride, physical fitness, and community bonding.
Speaking at the event, Swain said, “This Walkathon celebrates Independence and symbolises youth empowerment, civic responsibility, and national unity.
OJPT is proud to partner with NCC in nurturing patriotic, socially responsible, and fit young citizens for a brighter future.”
The Walkathon was supervised by Commander Sushant Mohanty, Commanding Officer of 3 Odisha Naval Unit NCC, representing NCC Group Headquarters Cuttack.
In his address, Commander Mohanty said, “The NCC has long instilled discipline, leadership, and service-mindedness in youth.
This Independence Day Walkathon reaffirms our commitment to freedom, fitness, and fraternity.”
The walkathon saw lively participation from NCC cadets of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with students and youth from local organisations.
The event ended with a group salute to the national flag and the National Anthem, celebrating the spirit of Azadi ka Amrit.
