Young actors, barely a few films old, are making their mark through talent in the Oriya tinseltown. They are daring enough to do off-beat roles and, by taking measured steps, they have managed to rule the box office too. Adyasha Barik is one of such talents, who is ruling the roost in industry with her acting and dancing dexterity. Orissa Post talks to the one-movie old newbie about her future plans.

An artiste by birth, in her own words, Adyasha finds solace in dancing and acting. Her parents catalysed her learning process from her very childhood soon after she developed a penchant for dance watching performances on the television. She says, “Since childhood, I was very passionate about dancing and acting. I cherished the day when I, as a four-year-old, was awarded the first prize in a dance competition. It was when I realised my hidden passion. I was so passionate about acting that I used to peep through the skylight to watch late night films, because the television set was kept at my father’s room,” smiles Adyasha, who is pursuing MA in English from Utkal University.

“If I am thriving as an actor and performer today, it is due my parents’ immense trust and support. They made me feel acting runs in my veins. They encouraged me to take acting as my profession. I shot to fame after I impressed the judges of the reality show titled ‘Mu Bi Heroine Hebi’ aired on Sarthak channel. Though I was eliminated from the show after reaching top 10, I became a popular face among the audiences. Besides, I made a mark and managed to attract filmmakers. Subsequently, I got a role in Sushant Mani’s flick Tu Kahibuna Mu. I have not looked back since then. Later, I was offered to play the protagonist’s role in the mega soap ‘Jay Maa Lakhmi’ aired on Sarthak channel.”

On work front, the budding actress is busy shooting two movies under the direction of T Ganesh. “I will be seen romancing Arpan Mohanty in Raj, which is slated for release in May last week, while another movie Love is Life is all set to hit the theatres after a few months”, the actress reveals.
Sharing an interesting incident about how she got selected for the reality show ‘Mu Bi Heroine Hebi’, the actress says on happy note, “I had gone to SCB Medical College for my mother’s check up when an audition for ‘Mu Bi Heroine Hebi’ was going on near the hospital. I rushed to the venue and got registered my name. I gave my best and was selected.”

Being a newbie, has she faced any difficulty in making a mark in the filmdom? Responding to this query, Adyasha quipped, “Luckily I got success without difficulties. I did not have to beg anyone for roles. I got roles though auditions and my talents. I can say that there are both good and bad people in the film industry. Budding actors, especially girls, should know how to stay away from such unscrupulous elements.”
