Bhubaneswar: As expected normalcy in the Odisha Assembly returned Friday after a logjam of six consecutive days. This happened after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik assured Thursday aggrieved BJP lawmakers that their grievances and demands would be looked into. The BJP MLAs had marched to Naveen Nivas in the state capital.
The BJP and Congress had stalled proceedings of the House for the last six days over alleged mismanagement of paddy procurement. On the other hand, the BJD members were demanding an apology from BJP lawmaker Subash Panigrahi who had attempted suicide in the Assembly by drinking sanitiser.
As the House assembled on the seventh day of the second phase of the Budget Session at 10.30am, members of the Opposition and the ruling parties were seen behaving normally. Everyone was behaving in a proper manner.
For the first time since the beginning of the second phase of the Budget Session, the Question Hour is reportedly going on smoothly.
Notably, the second phase of the Budget Session began March 12. However, no official work was conducted till Thursday due to the protests.
