New Delhi: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Monday staged a protest outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) office here over alleged irregularities in the UGC-NET June 2026 examination and demanded that the testing agency be scrapped.
Hundreds of NSUI members and UGC-NET aspirants participated in the demonstration, while a large number of police personnel were deployed outside the office, the students’ organisation said.
Addressing the protesters, NSUI national president Vinod Jakhar demanded the resignation of the NTA chairman and alleged that repeated failures in the examination system had undermined the credibility of the agency.
“Students cannot be made to pay the price for NTA’s failures. We demand that NTA be scrapped and its chairman resign. We will continue this fight until NTA is banned and students receive justice,” Jakhar said.
The protest came after the NTA announced re-examinations for English, Commerce and Sociology following complaints and an inquiry into factual, typing, translation and grammatical errors, as well as significant repetition of previously asked questions.
Several NSUI members reportedly sustained injuries during police action, the organisation claimed.
The students’ body said it would continue its agitation until accountability is fixed and a transparent and credible examination system is ensured.
