Bhawanipatna: A BSF jawan from Odisha was found dead in Tripura, a source said Friday.
The jawan was identified as Iswar Chandra Dora (35) – a native of Belkhandi village under Kesinga police limits in Kalahandi district.
Iswar spoke to his family over phone Thursday night. During his conversation, he informed that his leave application has been approved and he will come home this week, the source added.
However, Friday morning his family members received a call from BSF official and were informed that Iswar died of terrorist firing.
Hearing the news of his untimely death, the family members of Iswar were completely shattered. A pall of gloom descended his village as the news of his demise broke.
Iswar joined BSF in 2009. He is survived by his wife, five-year-old daughter, mother, father, two brothers and sister-in-law. It was learnt that after post-mortem, his body will be brought to his village for last rites.
