Bhubaneswar: Odisha now figured among the top six states with the lowest COVID-19 positivity rate. While Himachal Pradesh reported the least positivity rate of 2 per cent, Odisha is in the 6th slot in COVID-19 positivity rate.
Besides Himachal, other states which performed well in reporting low positivity rate are Rajasthan (4%), Punjan (4.10%), Madhya Pradesh (4.60%) and Uttar Pradesh (4.60%). Odisha reported the positivity rate of 6%. The positivity rate in all these states is lower than the national average – 8.69%.
Positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive for the novel coronavirus.
“The lower the positivity rate means as more and more testing is being conducted in Odisha, the lesser number of people are found to be COVID positive,” a statement from the Odisha Health department said. It further claimed that the sustained and robust COVID management effort by Odisha government is resulting in such good performance by the state in its fight against the virus.
