Bhubaneswar: In a major push to industrial development and investment-led growth, the Land Allotment Committee (LAC), chaired by Usha Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department and Chairperson of IDCO, Thursday approved 63 project proposals, including 55 land allotment proposals and eight related to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The approvals are expected to facilitate the establishment and expansion of industrial units, strengthen industrial infrastructure and generate fresh investment and employment opportunities across the State.
Under Padhee’s leadership, IDCO has taken several initiatives to streamline land allotment, improve inter-departmental coordination and ensure time-bound decisions on investment proposals. The LAC now meets every month to ensure regular consideration and approval of land-related proposals.
Additionally, a dedicated weekly mechanism has been introduced to hear and resolve grievances of investors and entrepreneurs, ensuring prompt redressal of issues and greater responsiveness in the allotment process. These measures aim to minimise procedural delays, enhance transparency and improve the ease of doing business, enabling investors to translate their proposals into projects on the ground. The approval of MSME proposals also highlights the state’s focus on promoting small and medium enterprises as key drivers of economic growth, innovation and employment generation.
By facilitating access to industrial land and infrastructure, the government seeks to create a conducive environment for enterprises of all sizes to establish and expand their operations. The LAC plays a crucial role in industrial development by examining and approving land-related proposals. The introduction of monthly committee meetings and weekly grievance hearings reflects IDCO’s commitment to transparent, responsive and investor-friendly industrial governance.
