Bhubaneswar: Assam Police, working with the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police, launched a raid Thursday in the city’s Infocity area in search of a most-wanted criminal.
Police identified the suspect as Samir Pattnaik, who is accused of running scams and fraud schemes worth crores of rupees in Assam. Patnaik had evaded Assam Police for weeks before being traced to Bhubaneswar, authorities said.
When officers reached the flat believed to be housing the suspect, they found the door locked from the inside and got no response despite repeated knocks. Police said they have not yet confirmed who is currently inside the apartment.
Officials said Patnaik had previously been arrested by the Commissionerate Police but was released on bail just days earlier. An investigation is ongoing.
