Bhubaneswar: Odisha bagged two national awards in the Swachh Survekshan 2020. The results were announced Thursday.
Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy shared the information on Twitter.
The awards were received in two categories namely ‘Fastest Moving State’ and ‘Best Medium City in Innovation and Best Practices (three-ten lakh population). While the state has been adjudged as the ‘Fastest Moving State’, ‘Best Medium City in Innovation and Best Practices (three-ten lakh population)’ award has been conferred on Berhampur Municipality Corporation.
In the survey, Indore in Madhya Pradesh has been adjudged as India’s cleanest city. The city has received the coveted award for the fourth year in a row. Surat and Navi Mumbai were the second and third cleanliest cities respectively.
Swachh Survekshan 2020 was the world’s largest cleanliness survey, covering 4,242 cities in a time-bound duration of 28 days. And it was a completely digitised and paperless survey.
The survey, commissioned by the Ministry of Urban Development, was first carried out in the year 2016, covering 73 cities.
