Chhetri scored a brace and led the home side to lift the Intercontinental Cup title with a 2-0 win over Kenya in the summit clash.
Playing his 102nd international match Chhetri became the joint second highest international goal scorer with Lionel Messi, who had played 124 matches for his country.
While Chhetri and Messi have scored 64 goals each, Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal with 81 goals of 150 matches tops the highest international goal scorer list.
