Odisha: Coastal region cities to be developed on lines of Goa to boost tourism

Bhubaneswar: The cities in the coastal region of Odisha will be developed with projects on the lines of Goa to boost tourism and create employment opportunities for youths, Principal Advisor to Odisha Chief Minister Asit Tripathy said here Friday.

Reviewing the progress of tourism infrastructure development projects and development of tourism in the state at a meeting, Tripathy said these projects would be implemented in PPP mode.

Tripathy said as many as 15 beach shacks will be built in Odisha. The beach shacks will be built in locations such as Gopalpur, Chandipur, Talasari, Paradeep and Sonepur. Facilities like toilets, parking spots, market complexes and sitting arrangements for tourists will be developed in the beach sacks for the benefit of the tourists, he added.

The meeting also decided to install a big cruise vessel in the Hirakud Reservoir in Sambalpur within a month and the process for setting up the Hirakud Boat Club will be started soon.

The development of tourism in terms of infrastructure and other amenities in both Harishankar and Nrusinghanath will be completed by December 2023, Tripathy said.

The Principal Advisor directed officials to construct market complexes, parking areas, entrance plazas, bathing ghats, toilet blocks, shops and drinking water facilities in modern style and complete the work at the earliest.
