Keonjhar: A contractor was shot dead in Ward-VI of Barbil municipality in Odisha’s Keonjhar district Monday, said a source.
The deceased has been identified as Bhola Sinha, who was an influential businessman in Barbil area.
According to the source, miscreants opened fire at Bhola Sinha while he was returning home on his two-wheeler.
One passerby spotted Bhola lying on the road in a pool of blood. He informed the police and they rushed to the spot.
Bhola was immediately taken to Barbil community health center (CHC) where the doctors declared him dead.
Police reportedly recovered a bullet cartridge from the spot.
Police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the killing, but it is suspected to be a case of past enmity or business rivalry.
Police are probing the incident and a manhunt is underway to catch the miscreants.
