Tumudibandh: A 65-yearold man was swept away by strong currents while crossing the Rahul river near Kalisapadar village under Tumudibandh police limits in Kandhamal district.
The missing man was identified as Arjun Munda. According to reports, Arjun had gone to a nearby forest Monday with his son Das Munda to collect firewood, as they did regularly.
While crossing the Rahul river on their way to the forest, Arjun was suddenly caught in the strong current and swept away. His son tried to rescue him after seeing him being carried away by the current, but was unable to reach him because of the strong flow.
Arjun disappeared within moments. On being informed, a fire services team reached the spot and launched a search operation in the river. However, Arjun had not been traced till the time of filing this report.
