Jajpur: The body of a girl was found hanging in a hostel room in Odisha’s Jajpur district Thursday, a source said.
The deceased was identified as Nibedita Sahoo – daughter of Nanda Kishore Sahoo from Dhusuri village in Bhadrak district. She was a second-year nursing student at Xavier Nursing College in Jajpur Road.
According to the source, the roommates of the victim found Nibedita hanging inside her hostel room at around 1 pm. They immediately informed the college authorities and local police.
Afterwards, Nibedita was taken to Jajpur Road Community Health Centre where a doctor declared her brought dead.
On being informed about the incident, Jajpur Road police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. An FIR has been lodged.
Meanwhile, the family members of Nibedita have alleged that she has been murdered.
One of her relatives said that Nibedita left home Wednesday morning for her hostel. She was in good mood. There was no reason for her to die by suicide.
Notably, Jajpur Road Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sanjay Patnaik informed that the exact reason behind the death can be ascertained after getting the autopsy report. An investigation is underway.
