Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Investors’ Meet in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) gained further momentum Thursday, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi holding a series of meetings with leaders, investors and industry representatives that resulted in the signing of five MoUs and eight investment intents worth Rs 8,417 crore across multiple sectors, with the potential to create 14,310 jobs.
The second day of Odisha Investors’ Meet in the UAE began with a high-level meeting between Majhi and Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Cabinet Member and Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the Council of International Investments. The discussions focused on strengthening economic and investment cooperation between Odisha and the UAE and exploring new opportunities for UAE-based investors and businesses in Odisha.
Majhi highlighted Odisha’s growing industrial potential, strategic location, robust infrastructure, availability of natural resources, skilled workforce and investor-friendly policy environment. He invited UAE investors and business leaders to explore Odisha as a destination for long-term investment and business partnerships. The CM participated in the Odisha Investment Roadshow in Dubai, where the state showcased its industrial ecosystem and investment opportunities across sectors. Majhi invited global businesses to partner with Odisha to accelerate industrialisation, generate employment and promote sustainable economic growth.
At a dedicated roundtable with aluminium downstream industries, discussions focused on investment opportunities across Odisha’s aluminium value chain, including downstream manufacturing, greater value addition, technology-driven industries and the development of globally competitive industrial capacities. Majhi also interacted with members of the Indian Business Professional Council in Dubai. As part of the sectoral outreach, he visited Emirates Global Aluminium where he gained insights into advanced industrial operations, technology and global practices in the aluminium sector. An industry roundtable with the Bureau of Middle East Recycling focused on opportunities in recycling, resource efficiency and the circular economy.
The CM also held a series of one-to-one and group meetings with investors and business leaders, presenting Odisha’s investment opportunities and assuring them of the state government’s commitment to facilitating projects. The day’s engagements resulted in the signing of five MoUs worth Rs 5,600 crore, with the potential to create 11,500 jobs, and eight investment intents worth Rs 2,817 crore, with the potential to create 2,810 jobs.
