Cuttack: A man allegedly beat his father to death after the latter refused to give money to consume liquor at Athagarh town in Odisha’s Cuttack district, a source said Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Balunkeshwar Mohanty (75).
Police have detained the accused son, identified as Aparti Mohanty.
According to the source, after his father’s denial to give money late Saturday night, Aparti hit his father with a rod which subsequently led to Balunkeshwar’s death.
One of the villagers on the condition of anonymity said that Aparti is a habitual drunkard. He often used to snatch money from his father to consume liquor.
Police have launched a probe into the incident.
