Angul: A man allegedly killed a 12-year-old girl by slitting her throat at Kuio village under Sadar police limits in Odisha’s Angul district, a source said Monday.
According to the source, the accused forcibly entered the house of the minor girl at around 10AM Monday when she was with her mother. Afterwards, the accused pushed aside the victim’s mother and slit the girl’s neck with a sharp weapon. The accused fled the spot after committing the crime, the source added.
Subsequently, the victim was rushed to Anugul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where she breathed her last while undergoing treatment.
As per local sources, a one-sided affair could have led to the incident. However, the exact reason behind the killing is yet to be ascertained.
Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
A manhunt is on to nab the accused.
