Bhabanipatana: A newborn baby died at the district headquarters hospital in Bhabanipatana, Kalahandi district, allegedly due to medical negligence.
While the incident occurred Monday night, the baby’s family protested at the hospital Tuesday, prompting police to reach the spot and pacify them.
According to family members, the wife of Markanda Bagarti of Pratappur village under the Lanjigarh police station area delivered a boy following a cesarean section.
The family alleged that the newborn did not receive timely medical attention after birth. The baby died shortly afterward. District chief medical offi cer Dr Harekrushna Satapathy said an inquiry would be conducted and appropriate action would be taken based on its findings.
